Monbiot is bang on about speed cameras, and the...
Look, I’m honestly not all that bothered about speeding. I’m not even that bothered about the number of children killed every year by cars in Britain. The one purely driving issue that does really get my goat is people tailgating, for which I think there is no excuse whatsoever…and indeed there is no excuse for it in the eyes of the law either.
So why am I about to bang on about...

Financial criminals Vs Climate criminals:

£400 million green aid wasted on coal projects puts Sir Fred Goldwin’s £16 million into perspectve (still bad tho) http://tinyurl.com/cdqq78
I think it’s time for me to commit some financial crime. If I can take enough money by conning rich enough people, it seems that nothing too bad will happen. Also then I can charm them into letting me ‘borrow’ their accountants,...

No New Coal →
More coal fired power stations.
Do we need them? No.
Do we want them? No.
Are they efficient? No.
Are there better ways of producing energy, both green and non-green? Yes.
Good job this website’s about then.
More Climate Scandal
£400 million of our money, the UK’s contribution to the World Bank’s clean development fund, looks set to be spent instead on a new generation of coal fired power plants:

Bloody hell. I knew the World Bank were a pretty evil monolith of Orwellianism, a pretty powerful driver of all that is bad in the world, but this to me is a whole new level of...
Some choice bits on King's comments:
“I’m going to suggest that future historians might look back on our particular recent past and see the Iraq war as the first of the conflicts of this kind – the first of the resource wars,”
”Unless we get to grips with this problem globally, we potentially are going to lead ourselves into a situation where large, powerful nations will secure the resources for their own...

Anyone see the Pratchett Alzheimer's Documentary?
Thought it was really interesting. He’s one of my favourite authors anyway (especially Good Omens, Only You Can Save Mankind, Small Gods and the Rincewind novels are great) and this doc was following him as he lives with a rare variant of Alzheimer’s, which affects mainly the visual parts of the brain…leading to a wierd situation where a skilled author can perfectly articulate...

Liverpool Tactics and the Sacchi Influence
The AC Milan side of Arrigo Sacchi is known as a huge influence on Rafa’s ideas and methods, and he in turn was inspired by the early ‘total football’ sides like Michel’s Dutch side and Lobanyovski’s Dynamo Kiev. Many of these ideas, especially the defensive ones, underpin all of modern football. However, one crucial idea is rarely, if ever, implemented to its fullest extent. This is, essentially,...

– Roy Batty in Bladerunner, one of the best films ever, and one of very few great films and books where each (flim and book) are superb examples of their genre in their own right, and more than different enough to be worth checking out both.
